I used to be in 1199 and I paid less dues. We received scholarships for our kids for camp and college, legal advice, counseling and child care and Training and education to move up in the health field and the union threw us parties at the union hall. And they helped to elect the president. I helped even though I am not there. Why is the office in albany, ny. I had a hard time asking a question,

Bigger unions probably have an easier time being able to provide different services for their members as they have a bigger "pot" to draw from. Still, I do think we could do better for our members. I don't know how much of a priority is given to finding ways to help our members in such a manner. You can follow where the money goes by looking at the union's financial report or LM2. There is a link and instructions on how to do this on the website here: www.nynursesunited.org/financial.htmlThey say the main headquarters of the union is in Albany so they could be close to the state legislature in the Capitol.
