Is the organization placing nurses in new jobs when their hospitals close? What is the system? In my old union, we were on a list and they would place us based on how long we had been working. Are you left to fend for yourself?

In this union, you usually don't get "placed" in a new position when your facility closes.
My understanding is that the union will help you find an opening in another facility they represent the nurses at. They might be able to bring you postings or give your information about vacanices. Then you can apply to that facility for a position that you are interested in.
I don't think you get any special preference or consideration for positions though- you are competing with other applicants.
Maybe the union tries to get special consideration for these members on a case-by-case basis, but I've never seen a written agreement like some other unions have.
Hope this helps.
